A team from Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre has visited Maldives from 15 – 18 October 2012

October 15 – 18, 2012 a team from Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC) consisting of Director Mr. Sajedul Hassan and Project Coordinator Mr. Alexander David Fowler visited Maldives for the scoping mission of Priority Implementation Partnership (PIP). In this visit they met with the heads of National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) for discussion of a way forward in mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) into local development planning process
Furthermore, in this visit the delegates from ADPC met with the senior people related to this from Local Government Authority (LGA), Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, Department of planning and Male’ city council
ADPC delegates highlighted that this visit has improved the relation between both ADPC and NDMC. Also, noted the support and enthusiasm received for this mission and that in the near future a delegation team from ADPC would be visiting Maldives for further discussion on mainstreaming DRR into local development planning process
